Catch-up, not Catsup

Whoops. Time flies when you are having fun. And it flies even more when you are in grad school. I am going to use my newly sharpened skills of summarization to bring things up to speed since we are now in the longest heat streak in Denver history and my last post was way back in the middle of the record-setting snow season was kicking in.
Highlights in the interim period: New Belgium Brewery tour and the punk rock poodles that were there, Triple Ginger Bundt Cake, seeing John Elway at his son's HS graduation, Brooklyn Blackout Cake (which works well in sheet cake form!), Banana Cream Pie with Toasted Coconut, Ramp-feast at Joe's (mmm - stinky), Easter eggs, and a few weekend trips up at Grand Lake at the cabin. Throw in a visit from Craiggers, a horrible Spring semester and a roller skating birthday and we are just about caught up.
Phew.
Oh and lots of ultimate as well. Waaaaaay too much this past week. Quads very sad. Stairs highly painful.

See the Favre Egg? The Charlie Brown Egg and the Poo Egg? No Brady Egg for me. :(

Ramps from Ramp-feast and Taryne's Jello-Shot Brain

*Tara never put Kona in...just dangled. Promise.

Made a delicious buffalo chili up at the cabin as well. Ground buffalo plus tomatoes, onions, black beans, kidney beans, corn, green chili and a mess of spices. Pretty tasty stuff. And smoked mozzarella is a delicious way to make homemade pizzas a little bit more interesting.

Our herbs are starting to take off on the back porch. Today's activities includes re-potting so I am hoping that we'll have enough basil for pesto soon and there should also be plenty of mint for mojitos! Stay tuned for some tasty blueberry deliciousness. Speaking of which, if you haven't tried blueberry vodka mixed with lemonade, you should.
Oh and last yummy food note. Tried making a BLT Salad the other night inspired by Eating Well's recipe. Really yummy. I did salad mix plus chopped bacon plus blue cheese topped with some smoky tomato dressing from Sunflower. I am happy to report that bacon is still able to make salad taste even better than you thought possible.

Aww, c'mon the spring semester wasn't that horrible. Was it? We're in the home stretch now right? Right? Glad to see that you are back on the blog train. See you soon!

Wow, what a catch up. At least you have been spending your time wisely. And deliciousy. They have a side dish here that seems to be the green parts of the ramp boiled hard and served with a little soy. Almost the texture of well done green bean with a hint of flavor.

I miss blue cheese. We ate at a french place the other night (I know, French in China?) I paid too much for a mediocre chunk of blue cheese, but it was still a little piece of heaven.

Beau - if you recall, I started off the Spring Semester with a cold that became bilateral otitis media and serious sinus issues, got dumped on Valentine's Day and wrapped up the semester with breaking down with tears of frustration in Dr. VH's office. Definitely ranks in one of the Top 5 Bad Semesters ever.
